US raw steel production declined last week (ended October 15), with output decreasing by 1.3 percent from the previous week. In the week ending October 8, US raw steel production had dropped 1.4 percent compared to the previous week.
Total raw steel production in the US last week amounted to 1,629,000 nt. This figure represents a decrease of 1.3 percent from the 1,651,000 nt produced in the prior week, but is up 9.5 percent from the 1,473,000 nt produced in the same week of last year.
The capability utilization rate of US raw steelmaking facilities was 67.4 percent in the week ending October 15, compared to 68.3 percent in the prior week and 61.7 percent in the same week last year.
