According to US Census Bureau data, US petcoke exports in August 2017 totaled 3.41 million mt, up 14.8 percent from 2.97 million mt in August of the previous year, and up 28 percent from July.
The top three export destinations for US petcoke in August were India (557,869 mt), Turkey (391,651 mt) and Mexico (354,298 mt). The New Orleans Port and the Ports of Houston accounted for 53 percent of the export shipment volume in August.
For the period of January-August 2017, petcoke exports totaled 26.5 million mt, up 0.7 percent from 26.3 million mt in the same period of 2016.
