US merchant bar exports up 39.3 percent in November

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of light shaped bars (merchant bar) totaled 3,643 mt in November 2019, up 39.3 percent from October and up 266.5 percent from November 2018 levels. By value, merchant bar exports totaled $2.8 million in November, compared to $2.1 million in the previous month and $1.1 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most merchant bar to Mexico in November with 1,992 mt, compared to 1,458 mt in October and 665 mt in November 2018. Other top destinations included Canada, with 1,575 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US merchant bar exports in November.
