US iron and steel scrap exports up 62.7 percent in March 2026 from February

According to the latest figures from the US International Trade Commission, US iron and steel scrap exports totaled 1.38 million mt in March this year, up 62.7 percent month on month and up 48.4 percent year on year.

Turkey was the largest recipient of US iron and scrap exports in March with 461,126 mt, up 77.7 percent month to month and up 48.1 percent year on year. Other notable destinations in March included Mexico with 262,586 mt, Peru with 114,406 mt, and Italy with 105,463 mt.

In terms of value, US iron and steel scrap exports totaled $669.24 million in March this year, compared to $426.75 million in February and $415.53 million in March 2025.
