US iron and steel scrap exports down 9.6 percent in November

According to the latest figures from the US International Trade Commission, US iron and steel scrap exports totaled 1,466,138 mt in November 2018, a 9.6 percent decrease month-on-month and an 8.6 percent decrease year-on-year.

Turkey was the largest recipient of US iron and scrap exports in November with 306,902 mt, up 33.2 percent month-on-month but down 24.3 percent year-on-year. Other notable destinations in November 2018 include: China, with 201,167 mt; Taiwan, with 160,624 mt; Canada, with 149,306 mt; and Mexico, with 135,161 mt.

In terms of value, US iron and steel scrap exports totaled $424.8 million in November 2018, a 19.2 percent decrease compared to October and a 17.6 percent increase compared to November 2017.
