US iron and steel scrap exports down 9.6 percent in February 2026 from January

According to the latest figures from the US International Trade Commission, US iron and steel scrap exports totaled 849,092 mt in February this year, down 9.6 percent month on month and down 19.6 percent year on year.

Turkey was the largest recipient of US iron and scrap exports in February with 259,471 mt, down 16.3 percent month to month and down 15.3 percent year on year. Other notable destinations in February included Mexico with 158,214 mt, Thailand with 110,335 mt, and Taiwan with 59,018 mt.

In terms of value, US iron and steel scrap exports totaled $426.75 million in February this year, compared to $440.34 million in January and $430.68 million in February 2025.
