US grants exemption to another batch of 37 products

The US Trade Representative Office announced another batch of product exclusions on August 12, 2002. This new list covers 37 products to be excluded from the hefty tariffs implemented by the Bush Administration on March 2002. Among the latest exclusions are slabs, hot rolled bars, cold rolled flat rolled, carbon flanges-fittings and welded tubes and pipes other than OCTG. The US authorities' granting exemptions to slabs has been appreciated by the Brazilians. This situation is expected to increase Brazilian steelmakers' exports to the US.
