On Monday, January 11, the US Department of Commerce (DOC) announced the preliminary results of its administrative review of the countervailing (CVD) duty against hot rolled carbon flat steel products from India.
The review covers only one producer/exporter, Tata Steel Limited (Tata), during the period from January 1, 2008, through December 31, 2008. The DOC has preliminarily determined the net subsidy rate for Tata to be 586.43 percent ad valorem.
If the final results remain the same as these preliminary results, the DOC will inform US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) 15 days after the date of publication of the final results.
The DOC is to make its final judgment later this year. The former CVD duty for Tata was reported as 27.22 percent.
Earlier on January 11 SteelOrbis also reported the US DOC's preliminary results of its administrative review of the AD order against the same product imported from India.
