US cold finished bar imports down 9.8 percent in July

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of cold finished bar totaled 10,042 mt in July 2023, down 9.8 percent from June and down 13.7 percent from July 2022 levels. By value, cold finished bar imports totaled $20.3 million in July 2023, compared to $21.9 million in June and $22.4 million in July 2022.

The US imported the most cold finished bar from Italy in July, with 3,516 mt, compared to 2,242 mt in June and 2,215 mt in July 2022. Other top sources of imported cold finished bar in July include Germany, with 1,659 mt; Mexico, with 1,533 mt; and China, with 1,108 mt.
