US cold finished bar imports down 24.9 percent in February

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of cold finished bar totaled 7,469 mt in February 2023, down 24.9 percent from January and down 16.1 percent from February 2022 levels. By value, cold finished bar imports totaled $15.3 million in February 2023, compared to $19.4 million in January and $16.4 million in February 2022.

The US imported the most cold finished bar from Canada in February, with 1,828 mt, compared to 2,218 mt in January and 2,229 mt in February 2022. Other top sources of imported cold finished bar in February include Germany, with 1,718 mt; and Italy, with 1,324 mt.
