US and Canadian rig counts both up

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending July 6, the US rig count increased by 5 to 1,052 while the Canadian rig count increased 10 to 182, both compared to the previous week.

The active US oil rig count rose by 5 to 863 after two straight weeks of declines, while US gas rigs remained unchanged at 187 and two rigs are classified as miscellaneous.

Compared to the same period last year, US rig counts are higher by 100 and Canadian rig counts are higher by 7.
