At a press conference held on Tuesday, March 7, Louisa Vinton, the United Nations Development Program’s resident representative in Turkey, said that the damage caused by the devastating earthquakes in Turkey’s southeast will exceed $100 billion, according to calculations made both by the Turkish government and international partners.

This provisional damage will be used as a basis figure for donor meeting to raise funds for earthquake victims, which will take place on March 16.

Previously, the World Bank assessed the damage caused by the earthquakes at around $34.2 billion.
