UNESID: Spanish steel output down 24 percent in January 2026

According to the Spanish steelmakers association UNESID, in January this year Spain’s steel production totaled 789,000 mt, rising by 15.0 percent month on month and dropping by 24.0 percent year on year.

In the given month, the Spanish steel industry recycled 695,000 mt of scrap to be used for new steel products, up by 20.9 percent compared to the previous month and down by 13.0 percent year on year.
