Ukrainian scrap export for Jan-Aug 2006

According to data obtained from a reliable industry source, Ukraine's scrap exports for the January-August 2006 period decreased to 512,500 metric tons from the 912,300 metric tons recorded for the same period of last year. Although the biggest importers of Ukrainian scrap remained the same- Turkey, Egypt, and Moldova - only Egypt showed a relatively small rise (from 122,900 metric tons to 126,400 metric tons) in its amounts of scrap imports from Ukraine during the period in question. On the other hand, the amounts of scrap exported to Turkey decreased from 445,600 metric tons to 283,800 metric tons, while Ukrainian scrap exports to Moldova decreased even more dramatically from 292,300 metric tons to 76,000 metric tons.
