Ukraine’s scrap exports up 58 percent in Jan-May

According to the data released by the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine, in the January-May period this year Ukraine exported 509,361 mt of ferrous scrap metal, up approximately 58 percent compared to the January-May period last year, worth a total of $126.284 million, up approximately 26 percent year on year.

The exports in terms of value mostly went to Turkey (89.13 percent), and Moldova (9.99 percent).

In the January-May period this year, Ukraine imported 136.200 mt of scrap, down 94.6 percent year on year, worth a total of $1.879 million, down 80.8 percent year on year. The main supplier of scrap imports in the given period was Turkey, which accounted for 97.02 percent of the total import volume.
