Ukraine’s iron ore imports from Russia fall

Ukraine's iron ore imports from Russia fell 15.6 percent year on year to 2.37 million metric tons in 2005. According to the reports, iron ore concentrate imports fell 8.7 percent year on year to 1.3 million metric tons in 2005 while pellet imports decreased 72.1 percent to 237,500 metric tons. However, sinter imports jumped 56.8 percent year on year to 777,500 metric tons last year. In December alone, Ukrainian steel mills imported 278,900 metric tons of iron ore from Russia, including 228,800 metric tons of concentrate and 50,100 metric tons of pellets.
