Ukraine’s ferrous metal imports and exports rise in value in Jan-May

According to the data issued by the State Statistics Committee of Ukraine, in January-May this year the country's exports of ferrous metals increased in value by 47.3 percent year on year to $5.79 billion, while its exports of ferrous metal products went down by 17.3 percent year on year to $668.5 million. The share of exports of ferrous metals and ferrous metal products in the country's overall export structure amounted to 30.9 percent and 3.6 percent respectively.

Meanwhile, during the period in question Ukraine's imports of ferrous metals increased in value by 74.8 percent to $659.8 million, and its imports of ferrous metal products went up by 24 percent to $259.7 million mt, both compared to January-May 2009. The share of imports of ferrous metals and ferrous metal products in the country's overall import structure amounted to 3.2 percent and 1.2 percent respectively.
