Ukraine ferrous scrap metal exports up 71.5 percent in Q1

According to the data released by Ukrainian association of metal producers Metallurgprom, in the first quarter this year Ukraine exported 265,812 mt of ferrous scrap metal, up 71.5 percent compared to Q1 2014, worth a total of $69.029 million, up 40.3 percent year on year.

The exports mostly went to Turkey (92.63 percent in monetary terms), Moldova (6.54 percent) and the UK (0.63 percent).

In the first quarter this year, Ukraine imported 785 mt of ferrous scrap metal, down 96.9 percent year on year, worth a total of $1.275 million, down 86.8 percent year on year. The main supplier of ferrous scrap metal imports in the given period was Turkey, which supplied 100 percent of the total import volume.
