United Steel Industries (USI), a relatively new wire rod producer in the UAE market, has made an important step in organizing its commercial operations. According to the local sources, the company has recently authorized Dubai-based Kadana Metals DMCC as its sole marketing agency to handle wire rod sales globally. Kadana will be responsible for all aspects of the export trade, including logistics, shipping and financing. In addition, the company will help USI to procure import billet feed, SteelOrbis understands.

USI started commercial production of wire rod at the end of last year. The company’s capacity to produce longs at its reversible rolling line is around 1 million mt, as reported earlier. In terms of wire rod, USI is targeting to produce 600,000 mt per year. The product range is 5.5-16 mm wire rod of SAE1006/1008 steel grades.

The company, which has become the UAE’s third local wire rod producer, has been trading locally, but has also been actively negotiating to sell its products to the neighbouring GCC countries as well as to trade outside the region, SteelOrbis has learned.
