Turkish motor vehicle output up 6.8% in Mar over Feb

According to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers' Association (OSD), in March this year Turkey's motor vehicle output totaled 103,135 units, decreasing by four percent year on year and up by 6.8 percent from February.

In March, Turkey's passenger car output totaled 53,534 units, down three percent year on year and up 9.7 percent month on month. In March, small truck production amounted to 39,136 units - down four percent compared to March 2012 and up 2.9 percent compared to February this year.

Meanwhile, in the first three months of this year, the country's total motor vehicle output amounted to 286,502 units, down three percent year on year. Passenger car output in the given period totaled 142,426 units decreasing by eight percent year on year, while commercial vehicle production stood at 134,720 units, up six percent compared to the corresponding period of 2012.

The overall production capacity utilization rate of the Turkish automotive industry in March this year was 79 percent, up compared to the 74 percent recorded in February. In the first three months of the year, the production capacity utilization rate was 73 percent.
