Turkish metals manufacture turnover down 6.8 percent in August from July

According to the statistics released by the Turkish Statistics Institute (TUIK), Turkey's monthly industrial turnover index in August this year increased by 29.4 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, and was down by 0.1 percent over July.
 
In August, the industrial turnover index for the manufacture of basic metals in Turkey improved by 45.9 percent year on year and registered a decrease of 6.8 percent over the previous month. August is the first month in which a month-on-month decrease has been seen after six consecutive months of increase. On year-on year basis, the last decline in the index was recorded in January 2010.
 
Meanwhile, in August, the monthly industrial new orders index for the manufacture of basic metals decreased by seven percent from July and was up 43.9 percent year on year. On year-on-year basis, the index has been trending up since January 2010, while August saw the first month-on-month decrease after six straight months of increase.
