Turkish metal producers’ selling prices up 6.42 percent in Dec over Nov

According to the statistics released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in December 2010 the producer price index (PPI) for Turkish industry in general rose by 1.31 percent over November and was up 8.87 percent year on year, while an average rise of 8.52 percent was registered for the latest 12 months.

In December, the PPI for the domestic basic metal industry increased by 6.42 percent month on month and was up 23.68 percent compared to December 2009. Meanwhile, the average increase in the latest 12 months was 18.01 percent.

On the other hand, during the given month, the PPI for the domestic manufacture of metal products, except machinery, increased by 0.98 percent over the previous month and 0.70 percent year on year. Meanwhile, in the sector in question, an average decrease of 0.34 percent in the PPI index was registered in the latest 12 months.
