Turkish HRC import volume up 11 percent in Jan-May

In May this year, Turkey's total hot rolled coil (HRC) imports increased by 43.6 percent year on year to 470,545 metric tons, up 25.8 percent compared to April, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). These imports had a value of $294.9 million, rising by 29.5 percent month on month and up 74.77 percent year on year.

 

In the January-May period of the current year, Turkey's HRC imports amounted to 1.78 million mt, up 11 percent, while the value of these imports increased by 26.5 percent to $1.07 billion, both year on year.

In the given period, Russia ranked first among Turkey's HRC import sources, with its HRC exports to Turkey amounting to 741,373 mt, down 16.15 percent year on year, followed by Ukraine which shipped 223,289 mt of HRC to Turkey in the given period.
