Turkish HRC import volume down 7.4 percent in January-August

In August this year, Turkey's total hot rolled coil (HRC) imports decreased by 38 percent year on year to 200,821 metric tons, down 16.5 percent compared to July, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). These imports had a value of $121.2 million, falling by 18 percent month on month and down 22.3 percent year on year.

In the first eight months of the current year, Turkey's HRC imports amounted to 2.54 million mt, down 7.4 percent, while the value of these imports increased by 12.66 percent to $1.53 billion, both year on year.

In the given period, Russia ranked first among Turkey's HRC import sources, with its HRC exports to Turkey amounting to 1,148,264 mt, down 26.06 percent year on year, followed by Ukraine which shipped 358,977 mt of HRC to Turkey in the given period.
