Turkish HRC import volume down 4.8 percent in January-April

According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in April this year Turkey's hot rolled coil (HRC) imports increased by 17.6 percent year on year to 439,594 metric tons, while rising by 92.2 percent compared to March. The revenue from these imports amounted to $228.4 million, up 95.4 percent month on month and increasing by 0.3 percent compared to the same month of the previous year.


Meanwhile, in the first four months of this year, Turkey's HRC imports amounted to 1.25 million metric tons, down 4.8 percent year on year, while the revenue generated by these imports totaled $657.52 million, decreasing by 14.8 percent compared to the same period of 2018.

In the given period, Russia ranked first among Turkey's HRC import sources, with its HRC exports to Turkey amounting to 614,052 mt, up 15.03 percent year on year, followed by Netherlands which shipped 132,332 mt of HRC to Turkey in the given period.
