According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in March this year Turkey's hot rolled coil (HRC) imports decreased by 21.6 percent year on year to 228,695 metric tons, down 23 percent compared to February. The revenue from these imports amounted to $116.9 million, down 23.5 percent month on month and decreasing by 33.4 percent compared to the same month of the previous year.
Meanwhile, in the first three months of this year, Turkey's HRC imports amounted to 810,477 metric tons, down 13.6 percent year on year, while the revenue generated by these imports totaled $429.1 million, decreasing by 21.1 percent compared to same period of 2018.
In the given period, Russia ranked first among Turkey's HRC import sources, with its HRC exports to Turkey amounting to 432,118 mt, up 25.4 percent year on year, followed by Ukraine which shipped 99,798 mt of HRC to Turkey in the given period.
