According to the statistics released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) on December 10, the capacity utilization rate in Turkey's manufacture of basic metals in November was 71.7 percent, mainly due to lack of demand in the local and export markets, compared to a capacity utilization rate of 71.1 percent in November 2008 and 75.1 percent in October this year.
Meanwhile, the capacity utilization rate in the country's manufacture of fabricated metal products in November was 66.3 percent, down from 69.4 percent recorded in November last year and up from 68.9 percent in October this year.
In November this year, the output of the domestic basic metal industry decreased by 3.3 percent, raw material prices for the industry in question saw a slight decrease of 0.2 percent, while sale prices decreased by 0.1 percent, all compared to the previous month.
As regards the manufacture of fabricated metal products, in November the output decreased by 2.2 percent, raw material prices remained unchanged and sale prices slid by 0.1 percent, all compared to October.
On the other hand, the output in the manufacture of basic metals in Turkey is forecast to increase by 4.4 percent in December, while sale prices are expected to remain unchanged for this industry in the same month, both compared to November. The raw material prices for the manufacture of basic metals are foreseen to increase by 0.3 percent month on month in December.
