Turkey’s billet imports down 4.6 percent in January-August

In August this year, Turkey's billet and bloom import volume has decreased by 50 percent month on month to 79,208 mt, down by 52.6 percent year on year, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports totaled $37.1 million, 41.4 percent month on month and down 52 percent year on year.

In the January-August period of this year, Turkey's billet import volume amounted to 1.1 million mt, decreasing by 4.6 percent, while the value of these imports decreased by 17.6 percent to $458.35 million, both year on year.

In the given period, Turkey imported 652,440 of billet and bloom from Russia, down 6.7 percent year on year, with Russia ranking as Turkey's leading billet and bloom import source, ahead of Ukraine which supplied 313,005 mt in the given period.
