Turkey’s wire rod exports up 27.2 percent in January-August

According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in August this year Turkey's wire rod exports increased by 8.8 percent year on year to 143,036 metric tons, down 22.4 percent compared to the previous month. The revenue from these exports amounted to $71.62 million, down 23.8 percent month on month and decreasing by 6.8 percent compared to the same month of the previous year.

Meanwhile, in the January-August period of this year, Turkey's wire rod exports amounted to 1.32 million metric tons, up 27.2 percent year on year, while the revenue generated by these exports totaled $671.09 million, increasing by 9.9 percent compared to same period of 2018.

In the given period, Turkey's largest wire rod export destination was Israel which received 277,600 metric tons. Israel was followed by the Netherlands with 103,213 metric tons and Singapore with 95,115 metric tons.
