Turkey’s steel import value down 9.4 percent in Jan from Dec

According to the provisional foreign trade statistics compiled by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) and the Turkish Undersecretariat of Customs, in January this year Turkey's iron and steel imports totaled $1.54 billion, increasing by 1.7 percent year on year but down 9.4 percent compared to December. Iron and steel ranked third among the most imported products of the country in the given month.
 
In January, imports of articles of iron or steel fell by 16.9 percent compared to December 2011 and were up 1.4 percent year on year, amounting to $171.2 million.
