According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in May this year Turkey's stainless flat steel imports rose 8.38 percent compared to the previous month, increasing to 29,748 metric tons. The value of these imports amounted to $87.19 million, increasing by 1.42 percent, as compared to April this year.
In May, Turkey's stainless flat steel imports from Taiwan amounted to 7,525 metric tons, decreasing by 7.43 percent month on month and accounted for approximately 25 percent of Turkey's total stainless flat steel imports. Turkey's second biggest source of stainless flat steel imports in May was South Korea with 5,026 metric tons, increasing by 58.99 percent compared to April this year.
Meanwhile, in the January-May period of this year, Turkey's stainless flat steel imports amounted to 33,257 metric tons, increasing by 3.86 percent compared to the same period last year. Imports from South Korea in January-May this year amounted to 27,551 metric tons, increasing by 100.65 percent compared to the same period last year.
