Turkey’s scrap imports exceed six million mt in first four months

According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in the first four months of this year Turkey's steel scrap imports rose 5.21 percent year on year, reaching 6.23 million metric tons.


The data show that, in the given period, the average import price of Turkey's steel scrap stood at $450/mt.


In January-April, the US was Turkey's top scrap import source with 1.29 million mt, while Romania followed the US with its scrap exports to Turkey reaching 806,976 mt. In the given period, the UK exported 595,703 mt of steel scrap to Turkey, Russia exported 553,984 mt and Belgium exported 445,386 mt to Turkey, while Turkey imported 443,742 mt of steel scrap from the Netherlands, 351,443 mt from Germany and 226,756 mt from Bulgaria.
