Turkey’s scrap imports up 13.6 percent in H1

According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in June this year Turkey's steel scrap imports rose by 0.8 percent compared to May and were up 16.5 percent compared to the same month of 2011, amounting to 1.98 million metric tons.

According to the data released by TUIK, in June the average price of Turkey's steel scrap imports stood at $444/mt, falling $2/mt compared to the previous month and down $23/mt compared to June 2011.

Meanwhile, in the first half of 2012 Turkey's scrap imports amounted to 11.3 million mt, increasing 13.6 percent compared to the same period last year.
