Turkey’s scrap imports down 4.8 percent in May from Apr

According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in May this year Turkey's steel scrap imports fell by 4.8 percent compared to April and were up 12.8 percent compared to the same month of 2011, amounting to 1.96 million metric tons.

According to the data released by TUIK, in May the average price of Turkey's steel scrap imports stood at $446/mt, rising $1/mt compared to the previous month and down $5/mt compared to May 2011.

Meanwhile, in the first five months of 2012 Turkey's scrap imports amounted to 9.36 million mt, increasing 17.5 percent compared to the same period last year.
