Turkey’s scrap imports down 34 percent in October over September

According to the customs statistics compiled by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in October this year Turkey imported 1.28 million metric tons of ferrous scrap, decreasing its imports of the product in question by 34 percent compared to September.

In October, Turkey's average ferrous scrap import price was $309/mt, up $14/mt or 4.75 percent compared to September levels.

During the month in question, Turkey's main ferrous scrap source was Europe, with imports of 637,850 metric tons - down 34.33 percent, followed by North America with 226,100 metric tons - down 56.44 percent, and the CIS with 337,340 mt - down 1.5 percent, all compared to the previous month.
