Turkey’s scrap import volume up 20.7 percent in January-October

In the January-October period of the current year, Turkey's scrap import volume increased by 20.7 percent to 17 million metric tons on year-on-year basis, while these imports were valued at $4.86 billion with a 54.7 percent increase compared to the same period of last year, according to the Turkish Steel Producers' Association (TCUD).

In the January-October period this year, Turkey's scrap imports from EU countries increased by 26.7 percent to 10.5 million mt, its scrap imports from the US rose 9.1 percent to 2.9 million mt, while scrap imports from CIS countries amounted to 2.2 million mt, down 12.2 percent, all on year-on-year basis. In the same period, the share of EU countries in Turkey's total scrap imports was 61.6 percent, the share of the US in Turkey's total scrap imports was 17.2 percent, while CIS countries’ share was 13.1 percent.
