Turkish rebar producer Izmir Demir Celik (IDC) has announced that it has decided to restart production at its profile and bar rolling lines, operating two shifts at each line. This decision has been made after evaluating inventory and order levels and also to sustain the continuity of operations, the mill said in its announcement, adding, “IDC will take all necessary precautions against the Covid-19 virus.”

On April 1, IDC had temporarily suspended production at its bar rolling plant after reporting that it reduced shifts at its bar rolling plant and decided to keep minimum staff during its ongoing operations amid precautions taken to reduce the impact of the coronavirus on March 24. Also, on April 9, the steelmaker had announced its decision to suspend operations of its profile rolling line.

The mill’s bar rolling plant has a 900,000 mt per year production capacity, while the company’s profile rolling plant has a 400,000 mt per year production capacity.
