Turkey’s IDC completes €2.3 million scrap cutter project

On January 31, Izmir, Turkey-based long steel producer Izmir Demir Celik Sanayi AS (IDC) announced that it has completed a €2.3 million scrap cutter construction project and has started the test run process. The project has been funded by the company's own resources.

IDC announced the commencement of the project on October 26, 2010, stating that the new equipment is aimed at cutting larger chunks of scrap in order to facilitate the process of transferring scrap materials to its electric arc furnace (EAF). Accordingly, energy and production efficiency will increase at the company's plant in Izmir, Turkey.
