Following the 1 percent contraction in January, Turkey's exports rose 7.5 percent in February. Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM) disclosed that the country's exports amounted to $6.12 billion last month. According to TIM data, exports rose 3.43 percent year on year to $11.6 billion in the first two months of the year. Industrial good exports, which account 85.2 percent of the total exports, rose 6.1 percent year on year to $5.2 billion in February. TIM President Oguz Satici said “Why is the huge interest that shown to foreign capital being withheld from the Turkey's own manufacturers? It is obvious that the recognized policies are trading policies not the manufacture.” “Despite the obstacles that the exporters face, these figures indicated a very successful performance” added Satici. “We are trying to do the best we can, but we are expecting more intelligence and support from our government.”
