Turkey's chrome ore exports up 11.55% in Q1

In March this year, Turkey's chrome ore exports amounted to 193,602 metric tons, up 171.09 percent compared to March 2013 and up 23.74 percent compared to the previous month, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The revenue generated by these exports totaled $43.13 million, up 158.46 percent year on year and increasing by 18.73 percent on month-on-month basis.

Meanwhile, in the first quarter of this year, Turkey's chrome ore exports increased by 11.55 percent to 496,903 metric tons, while the value of these exports rose 22.21 percent to $112.58 million, both on year-on-year basis.

In the first quarter of the current year, Turkey's chrome ore exports to China, which is the largest export destination, amounted to 366,629 mt, down 14.84 percent year on year. Sweden followed China in the period in question, importing 111,198 mt of chrome ore from Turkey.
