Turkey's chrome ore exports down 16.28 percent in January-May

In May this year, Turkey's chrome ore exports amounted to 156,333 metric tons, down 46.24 percent compared to May 2013, but up 131.44 percent compared to the previous month, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The revenue generated by these exports totaled $35.94 million, down 37.16 percent year on year and decreasing by 125.87 percent on month-on-month basis.

Meanwhile, in the first five months of this year, Turkey's chrome ore exports decreased by 16.28 percent to 721,512 metric tons, while the value of these exports declined 6.12 percent to $164.76 million, both on year-on-year basis.

In the first five months of the current year, Turkey's chrome ore exports to China, which is the largest export destination for chrome ore exports from Turkey, amounted to 572,391 mt, down 28 percent year on year. Sweden followed China in the period in question, importing 111,927 mt of chrome ore from Turkey.
