Turkey’s billet imports up 76 percent in January-November

In November last year, Turkey's billet and bloom import volume increased by 203.3 percent year on year to 515,567 metric tons, up 18.8 percent compared to the previous month, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports totaled $162.9 million, up 78 percent year on year and rising by 9.07 percent month on month.


 
In the January-November period last year, Turkey's billet and bloom import volume increased by 76 percent year on year to 4.54 million metric tons, while the value of these imports totaled $1.74 billion, up 24.6 percent year on year.
 
In the January-November period, Turkey imported 1,425,691 mt of billet and bloom from Russia, 61.35 percent higher year on year, with Russia ranking first among Turkey's main billet and bloom import sources, ahead of China which supplied 1,333,450 mt in the given period, rising significantly compared to 29,800 mt in the same period of 2014.
