Turkey’s billet imports up 3.9 percent in January

In January this year, Turkey's billet and bloom import volume increased by 3.9 percent year on year to 318,989 metric tons, down 16.4 percent compared to the previous month, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports totaled $94.5 million, down 32 percent year on year and falling by 17.5 percent month on month.

In the given month, Turkey imported 139,312 mt of billet and bloom from Ukraine, 9.98 percent lower year on year, with Ukraine ranking first among Turkey's main billet and bloom import sources, ahead of Russia which supplied 79,308 mt in the given period, falling 25.23 percent compared to the same month of 2015.
