Turkey’s billet imports up 10.7 percent in January-August

In August this year, Turkey's billet and bloom import volume decreased by 40.8 percent year on year to 329,235 mt, down 1.8 percent compared to the previous month, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports totaled $112.5 million, down 45.8 percent year on year and falling by 7.5 percent compared to the previous month.

In the January-August period this year, Turkey's billet and bloom import volume increased by 10.7 percent year on year to 3.37 million mt, while the value of these imports totaled $1.07 billion, down 13.5 percent year on year.
 
In the first eight months of this year, Turkey imported 1,155,001 mt of billet and bloom from Russia, up 9.72 percent year on year, with Russia ranking as Turkey's leading billet and bloom import source, ahead of Ukraine which supplied 987,924 mt in the given period.
