Turkey’s billet imports down 55 percent in January-April

In April this year, Turkey's billet and bloom import volume decreased by 35.5 percent year on year to 209,045 mt, up 35.6 percent compared to the previous month, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports totaled $85.4 million, down 10.4 percent year on year and rising by 31.6 percent compared to the previous month.


 
In the first four months of the current year, Turkey's billet import volume amounted to 775,569 mt, falling by 55 percent, while the value of these imports decreased by 35.5 percent to $318.9 million, both year on year.
 
In the given period, Turkey imported 308,906 mt of billet and bloom from Ukraine, down 36.46 percent year on year, with Ukraine ranking as Turkey's leading billet and bloom import source, ahead of Russia which supplied 280,870 mt in the given period.
