Tin producer MSC expects a slight increase in its output

Malaysia Smelting Company (MSC), one of the leading tin producers in the world, has recently announced that it expects a slight increase in its refined tin output this year. The increase, which will result from higher production at MSC's subsidiary PT Koba Tin on Indonesian island of Banga is expected to be around 6-11%. The production level at MSC's other subsidiary Butterworth will remain at 18'000 tons. The increase in the production of PT Koba Tin will result from its expansion. The production at the mill is expected to reach 20'000-22'000 tons this year against 18'000 tons of production recorded in the previous year. As previously reported by SteelOrbis, tin prices has reached $9'100 per ton levels last week on London Metal Exchange (LME), indicating the highest level recorded in the last 14 years. Current price level of tin is $8.620 per ton on LME.
