Timken Co., a Canton, Ohio-based global manufacturer of highly engineered bearings, alloy steels, and related components and assemblies, notified workers that the Gambrinus Bearing division will officially close in 60 days, even though it has been shuttered since September 2009.  Most of the 57 employees have been on layoff status since then.

The 82-year-old facility is part of Timken's Canton Industrial Bearing Complex (also including Canton Bearing and Gambrinus Roll), which has been planned for shutdown since May 2004.  The Gambrinus Roller plant is still in operation, with about 200 employees.
