ThyssenKrupp closes sale of civil shipbuilding operations

Germany-based steel giant ThyssenKrupp AG has announced that the transaction for the sale of the civil shipbuilding activities of ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems was closed on Tuesday, January 31.

The companies Blohm + Voss Shipyards, Blohm + Voss Repair (including Blohm + Voss Oil Tools) and Blohm + Voss Industries as well as their subsidiaries have been transferred to UK-based Star Capital Partners.

In December 2011, ThyssenKrupp signed a sale and purchase agreement regarding the civil shipbuilding activities of ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems as a part of its integrated strategic development program and stated that it will concentrate on military surface vessel and submarine construction in the future.
