According to an interview with ThyssenKrupp AG Chief Executive Heinrich Hiesinger published over the weekend, ThyssenKrupp hopes to sell its Americas plants for a total of at least 7 billion euros (US$8.8 billion). The plants are a slab mill in Brazil, and a flat rolled steel rolling mill operation in Calvert, Alabama.

In the interview, Hiesinger added that there are a number of interested parties but it is unlikely one buyer will take possession of both plants¬; rather, the facilities will have different buyers. As SteelOrbis reported last week, ThyssenKrupp is looking for serious bids on its ThyssenKrupp Steel Americas facilities by September 28.
