Third country imports into Italy drop 20%
The latest figures from Italy, indicate that imports from third countries dropped 19.5% during the first three months of this year compared to the same period in 2001. Analysts remarked that the decrease was partially due to uncertainty in the import/export market. In April, importers had problems importing product for free circulation due to the caution/security system. Insiders say, this means the trend for 2002 may not be clear until the end of this month, when imports are expected to increase significantly.Third country imports into Italy drop 20%
